- Global Yarn Manufacturers Trends

The production of global yarn manufacturer increased by 3.5 million tons or 8% to 48.0 million tons in2007. In 2008, The production of global yarn manufacturer decreased by 2.2 million tons or 6% to 45.8 million tons. Outside of China there were mainly production decreases to report.

In 2008, the global production of polyester textile yarns roughly stagnated at 17.1 million tons (-0.2%), and industrial filament yarns declined by 2.6% to almost 1.2 million tons. The industrial PET yarn manufacturers have not only suffered from the downturn in the automotive industry but also from changing trade flows. Although the global trade volume declined by 4.5% to 535,300 tons last year, PR China was able to boost its exports by 42% to 166,900 tons despite an increase in average prices of 3.6%, capturing 31% of world trade flows.
